Nashville rookie Brian Schwake duels NYCFC's Matt Freese to scoreless draw for 11th clean sheet

In a scoreless draw at Yankee Stadium on Friday night, Nashville SC goalkeeper Brian Schwake matched wits with New York City FC's Matt Freese, marking Schwake's 11th clean sheet in his first 23 appearances for the team. Despite ending a four-match winning streak, Nashville extended its unbeaten run to six games. The 25-year-old rookie has conceded only 17 goals this season, the fewest in the league.

Freese recorded his fourth shutout in 23 starts for NYCFC, which now has a record of 7-8-8 and a six-game winless run after a third consecutive draw. Hany Mukhtar nearly broke the deadlock for Nashville in the 43rd minute, but his shot hit the crossbar on an empty net. Despite having four goals and two assists in previous matches, Mukhtar's chances went unfulfilled this time around.

The first half concluded with no additional time, and only two minutes were played in the second half. While Nashville had previously defeated NYCFC 2-1 at home in May, their road record against the team stands at 0-3-2. NYCFC boasts a 4-4-4 home record this season, while Nashville improves to 5-2-4 on the road. Nashville currently leads the Eastern Conference with 53 points, 11 more than Inter Miami, and 10 ahead of the Western Conference-leading Vancouver Whitecaps in the Supporters' Shield race.

Nashville's next match will be at Toronto FC on Wednesday, while NYCFC will host New England Revolution on the same day.
