Naqvi says his comments on governance reset were not directed at any political party

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi clarified on Saturday that his previous remarks advocating for governance system reform were not aimed at any specific political party. Speaking at the National Policy Dialogue in Lahore, Naqvi emphasized that his concerns were directed towards the "system" that has been operational since Pakistan's independence. He stressed that the term "reset" does not imply dismantling the existing system, rather it signifies the need to address any deficiencies within it.

Naqvi contended that the country's administrative system had become ineffective, as its impact was not reaching the general public. He called for implementing the reforms he had previously proposed, adhering to the principles laid out in the Constitution. According to Naqvi, the changes should be introduced through democratic channels, with the political consensus and following the will of the people. He also highlighted that if the nation does not support the new administrative units, such units would not be established.

Naqvi further stressed that this change cannot be implemented solely by an individual, a political party, or the government currently in power. He pointed out that while governments, policies, and budgets change frequently, the crucial factor is the ability to deliver results. If Pakistan possesses significant potential but fails to yield the desired outcomes, it is imperative to overhaul the system, he added.
