MP’s Ujjain Khade Hanuman Temple Relocation Enters 40th Hour; Administration Awaits Scan Before Shifting Idol

Ujjain's administration has been working for over 40 hours to relocate the famous Khade Hanuman Temple near Sati Gate. Most of the temple's surroundings have been demolished, but the idol of Lord Hanuman remains untouched. The city's officials are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safe removal of the idol. Police, municipal corporation teams, and district administration personnel have been stationed at the site since Saturday morning. Barricades have been erected around the temple to prevent unauthorized access.

Temple priest Mahesh Bairagi expressed concern over the idol's safety if removed directly. To address this, a pit approximately one-and-a-half feet deep has been dug beneath the idol to assess its base and structure. Experts have recommended that the idol be scanned first before any attempt to move it. A specialized machine is being arranged for this purpose.

Two previous attempts to relocate the idol have failed, and social worker Shalu Yadav opposes the administration's decision. Yadav emphasized the temple's historical significance, dating back to before 1857, and its association with the British era. He urged the administration to halt the removal operation and construct a grand temple at the same location instead.

Meanwhile, the idol of Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple at Kanthal Chauraha was reinstated on Friday evening. The idol, which was removed during road-widening work, was temporarily housed at a shop opposite the temple. Devotees installed the idol on a newly constructed platform, accompanied by rituals, chanting of mantras, and religious ceremonies.

To prevent any inconvenience to devotees during the rains, a temporary shed will be erected over the idol. Sunil Gupta, a local associated with the temple, assured that the installation would enable devotees to offer prayers and seek darshan without any hindrance.
