Middle East live: Israeli strikes on south and east Lebanon kill three people

Lebanon's health ministry reported that Israeli strikes in southern and eastern regions have claimed at least three lives and injured 23 others. The strikes targeted five locations in Tyre, Nabatieh, and the Bekaa region. Despite a truce between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, the assaults persisted. NNA cited a motorcycle accident in Nabatieh, where two young men were killed.

The third fatality occurred in the Bekaa region, where 15 individuals were injured, including children, women, and rescuers. Israel claimed to have captured the Ali al-Taher ridge, a strategic location, but Hezbollah denied losing it. Israel announced the ridge's capture and stated that the military would prevent the enemy's return.

Israeli strikes intensified in Nabatieh and Rmadiyeh in Tyre, over 10km from the border. The Lebanese health ministry added that the village, hosting displaced residents, was hit by a strike, causing further casualties. The conflict began in March when Hezbollah attacked Israel, leading to a series of Israeli airstrikes and a ground invasion, which Lebanon claims has killed over 4,300 people.

Although the war has settled since a US-Iran agreement and a framework deal between Israel and Lebanon, Beirut continues to report Israeli strikes. UN humanitarian coordinator Imran Riza stated that returning families to Nabatieh face destruction, lack of basic services, insecurity, and uncertainty.
