Melaka to study proposal to set basic salary at RM2,500-RM2,800, says CM

Melaka's Chief Minister, Dr Ab Rauf Yusoh, has announced that the state government will examine the proposal to establish a basic salary range of RM2,500 to RM2,800 for its residents. This step aims to enable the younger generation to secure better incomes and build a prosperous future within the state. During a meeting at the Melaka International Trade Centre, Ab Rauf discussed various initiatives to empower women who have left their careers due to various factors.

For instance, he highlighted the potential for women in roles such as container truck drivers at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas and similar opportunities in the Inland Port in Alor Gajah. The Melaka Youth Carnival, which commenced today and continues until tomorrow, is another effort by the government to provide young people with the tools and opportunities to shape their futures.

The carnival includes career and skills carnivals, as well as a Town Hall session to help youth comprehend the direction of the state's development. Ab Rauf emphasized the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as it offers a different future for Melaka's residents, who have proven to be in high demand by leading global manufacturing companies, especially in specialized technology fields.
