Macao Union Medical Center Deepens Healthcare Cooperation with Southeast Asia, Leverages Advantages in Critical and Complex Disease Treatment to Expand International Space for “ Healthcare + Tourism” Development

Macao Union Medical Center, affiliated with Peking Union Medical College Hospital, has strengthened healthcare collaboration with Southeast Asian nations, focusing on critical and complex disease treatment. Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai led a delegation from 29 August to 5 September, visiting Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia to foster ties and conduct research.

The center showcased its expertise in high-end private hospitals and clinical research institutions, leveraging its technical heritage and expert resources. Macao Union Medical Center's strengths lie in diagnosing and treating critical, complex, and rare diseases, as well as delivering precise early disease diagnosis and comprehensive multi-disciplinary care.

The center aims to serve as a key hub connecting China's top-tier medical resources with Southeast Asia, offering high-end regional medical services. The delegation also examined biomedical innovation and clinical research transformations, visiting Malaysia's Clinical Research Malaysia to learn about biobanks, biopharmaceutical R&D, and clinical trial implementation models.

The visit provides insights for Macao Union Medical Center to enhance its research platform and standardize international clinical trials. In the long term, the center aims to integrate all sectors, deepen cross-domain cooperation, and explore a "medical care + tourism" integrated development model to attract international patients and boost Macao's high-end healthcare platform and economic growth.
