Los vecinos del puerto de Ceuta se movilizan contra las obras para una nueva ubicación de los migrantes: “No los queremos aquí, punto”

Hours after the government assumed control of Ceuta's port, the immense expanse where the new facility for migrants will be located is a scene of urgency: excavators, trucks, labor tools and cranes. Around thirty workers are busy at the two new sites, set in two large public lands, and they admit to being uninvolved in the institutional clash: "At this pace, by Monday, it's already ready," says Yasser, a worker placing the rods that will support the white tents housing 1,000 people.

He is working on the smaller expanse, adjacent to the food bank. The other site is moving at a slower pace and infrastructure has not yet been deployed. Both are located in the port's polygon, surrounded only by concessionaires, logistics warehouses, or port supply buildings. The last shops and supermarkets are situated in front of the ferry connecting the city to Algeciras, more than a kilometer away. Next to the tents, two giant fuel tanks for ships.
