Live updates: UTSA opens 2026 season against UTRGV in the Alamodome

The UTSA Roadrunners kicked off their 2026 season with a game against the UTRGV Estrellados at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Head coach Jeff Traylor led his team onto the field prior to the NCAA football match on Saturday. Following an offseason of changes, including a new offensive coordinator and roster overhaul, the Roadrunners aim to make a strong start to their season. The team is favored by about 30 points against their FCS opponent, UTRGV.

For the opener, potential starting offensive tackle Jonah Miller did not dress for the game, but UTSA appears close to full strength. At tackle, Marion Breland and Jaylen Garth are set to start. Breland, a redshirt freshman, will have his first significant action in the game. Garth started at tackle in 2024 and played for the first four games last year before suffering a season-ending injury.

The pregame warmups were completed, and UTSA returned to the locker room with less than 30 minutes to go before kickoff. A Marion Breland and Jaylen Garth were confirmed to start at tackle for the Roadrunners. The depth chart otherwise remained unchanged.

In attendance, UTRGV fans filled the seats behind their sideline, showing their support for the inaugural season. UTSA also had a strong contingent of supporters, with the program advertising a Navy Out for the game. The attendance is expected to exceed 30,000.
