(LEAD) No signs of missing crew members found in overnight search

A Navy search for six missing crew members concluded without success over the weekend, as a tugboat capsized off the southeastern city of Busan earlier this week. Despite continuous efforts, no signs of the six Korean and two Indonesian crew members were discovered in the chaotic waters, officials reported on Saturday. The 286-ton vessel overturned during a routine tow of a commercial ship on Wednesday, resulting in the rescue of one Indonesian crew member and the tragic loss of a Korean crew member who was found unconscious and later succumbed to his injuries.

To cope with the adverse weather conditions, the Coast Guard activated six vessels overnight to scour the vast area, but the extensive search came up empty. Due to the hazardous weather, underwater investigations of the sunken tugboat have been postponed. Search operations are set to resume during daylight hours, with additional vessels expected to join the mission.
