La nueva financiación autonómica inicia su recorrido legislativo con la vista puesta en Junts

The autonomous financing designed by the Government is about to embark on its legislative journey, with the gaze set on Junts. This plan faced nearly unanimous criticism from the communities and has little chance of thriving in Congress. Following its approval on Friday in the Council of Fiscal Policy and Finance (CPFF), where it secured only the votes of Catalonia and the Canaries while the rest of the territories rejected it, the Ministry of Finance plans to present it to the Council of Ministers within the coming weeks, as announced by the portfolio minister, Arcadi España.

The next and most challenging hurdle will be the examination by Parliament, whose outcome does not seem promising for the Executive. Junts, whose support is crucial for the initiative to become law once the PP is firmly against it, continues to demand an economic conciliation akin to the Basque model for Catalonia. Anything that does not take the community out of the common system, as the independentist formation has pointed out, will face a veto from Junts in Congress.
