Perpaduan Negara Minister Aaron Ago Dagang emphasized the importance of taking care in using the Kibar Jalur Gemilang while addressing the need for Malaysians to understand, respect, and verify the proper handling of the prestigious award. The minister reminded the public that the Kibar Jalur Gemilang symbolizes the nation's strength, dignity, and unity, and must be treated with reverence by all Malaysians, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political views.

He urged the public not to fear taking down the Kibar Jalur Gemilang, but to approach it with pride and responsibility, stating that this should be applied equally in digital media, including content generated by artificial intelligence (AI). Aaron warned that AI may result in improper representations of the flag, such as errors in the number of stripes, color arrangement, moon, star positioning, or flag placement, and urged everyone to verify the content before publishing or sharing.

Aaron stressed that unintentional disrespect should be seen as an opportunity for education and raising awareness among the public. He warned that intentional desecration or glorification of the national symbol should be addressed under the law, firmly. Aaron reiterated that the honour of the Kibar Jalur Gemilang is a shared responsibility and called for the public to make it a symbol of unity for Malaysia, while educating future generations to cherish, respect, and defend national dignity.

The statement was released on the eve of Malaysia Day on September 16, commemorating the formation of Malaysia in 1963, which united Malaya, Sabah, and Sarawak. The Kibar Jalur Gemilang is subject to the Symbols and Names Act (Prevention of Improper Use), which among other things, covers acts such as flying the flag upside down as an insult to the flag, with penalties ranging from a fine of up to RM20,000 or imprisonment for up to three years, or both.

The Perpaduan Negara Ministry, through Community Neighbourhood Committees (KRT) and the National Secretariat, is set to intensify public awareness and understanding of the correct use and display of the Kibar Jalur Gemilang. This approach aims not only to prevent recurrence of errors but also to build a deeper understanding and foster patriotic sentiments, particularly among the younger generation.
