Kepercayaan rakyat terhadap pemimpin penting ketika konflik, kata Jokowi

Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, emphasized the importance of public trust in leaders during times of conflict to ensure safety during a dinner event in George Town. Speaking at the annual Security Dialogue in Pinang, a bi-national forum, Jokowi highlighted that a leader must not only possess strategic knowledge and power but also understand the people, listen to their concerns, and empathize with their aspirations for the future.

He stressed that merely having a good leader is not enough, as citizens must also comprehend the challenges and struggles faced by their leaders. Jokowi noted that when the public understands, enthusiasm grows; when they trust, support follows. And when both the leader and the people truly understand each other, that is when the foundation of security begins.

Jokowi, known for his humility and approachability, reiterated that security also starts from a heart willing to listen and the courage to comprehend. The Security Dialogue in Pinang, expected to gather around 200 distinguished figures, intellectuals, and security experts, among the prominent speakers were Malaysia's economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram, Singapore's former Ambassador Kishore Mahbubani, Chinese academic Victor Gao, and American economist Jeffrey Sachs.
