Jharkhand SIR: FIR against four over alleged forged documents used for voter registration

Four individuals, including a Common Service Centre (CSC) operator named Mohammad Salim, have been accused of attempting to fraudulently include their names in the electoral rolls using forged documents. This alleged wrongdoing was reported during Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar's extensive inspection of cases across Barharwa block in Pakur district, as part of his four-day visit to the region.

The operator and the four individuals, Rubeida Bewa, Rabi Sheikh, Pintu Sheikh, and Sentu Sheikh, had submitted residential certificates to the electoral officials, which were subsequently deemed forged by the CEO's office. Kumar personally visited their homes in Ahut village to conduct a thorough examination of their electoral registrations and the documents they presented.

Following this investigation, an FIR was filed against the four individuals and another against Salim, with Kumar emphasizing the strict legal action that will be taken against anyone found guilty of submitting fraudulent documents for electoral roll inclusion. Kumar stressed the importance of maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the electoral rolls, ensuring that all eligible Indian citizens are properly registered and ineligible or foreign individuals are excluded.
