Intruder breaks into KCAA offices at JKIA, steals valuables from staff welfare office

An unidentified intruder gained entry into the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) offices at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi during the early hours of Friday, September 4, 2026. The incident was reported to have taken place around 12:50am, according to police. Night guards on duty at the KCAA building heard the sound of glass shattering from the Paul Caffee wing, located on the ground floor of the building.

Upon investigation, the guards observed an unknown individual leaping over the perimeter fence and making a swift escape.

The police, upon arriving at the scene, determined that the intruder had initially breached the building through a window. Following this breach, the suspect proceeded to infiltrate the Human Resources office and the Employees Relations and Welfare office. The individual also managed to access the National Continuous Monitoring Coordination office, but there was no reported theft from this particular area. After the break-in, the intruder reportedly abandoned the scene without further incident.

As the police conducted investigations, additional officers were dispatched to the location to thoroughly investigate the scene, gather evidence, and examine the surroundings for clues. The authorities have yet to disclose the exact value of the stolen items or property in question, as the investigation is still ongoing.
