Indore Metro’s Big Leap: Network Expands From 6 Km To 17 Km, Public Service Starts Sept 6

Indore's Metro network is poised for a substantial expansion, with passenger services on the extended route from Gandhi Nagar to Malviya Nagar Chowraha commencing on September 6. The inauguration of this enhanced service will take place on September 5 at the Brilliant Convention Centre in Vijay Nagar. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union housing and urban affairs minister Manohar Lal will preside over the ceremony at 4 pm.

Currently, Metro services in Indore operate on a 6-km corridor connecting Gandhi Nagar to Super Corridor-3. Following the expansion, operational coverage will stretch to approximately 17 km, linking numerous residential, commercial, and urban areas. From September 6, Metro passengers can expect to travel on a route covering 17 km, with 16 stations in operation.

Services will commence at 9:00 am and conclude at 7:00 pm, with trains running every 15 minutes. Daily operations are expected, with over 80 trips daily. To facilitate cashless travel, the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system will support digital ticketing. Passengers can purchase tickets via the MPMRCL mobile application and utilize UPI, QR codes, e-wallets, and other digital payment methods.

Promotional benefits for passengers include a 5% discount on return journey tickets, a 10% discount on group tickets, and an 8%-15% bonus on eligible mobile-app e-wallet recharges, with a maximum bonus of 15% on recharges ranging from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000. Three individuals, including a BCom student, have been arrested in connection with a drug case in Indore.
