In Hitless Return From IL, Pirates’ Konnor Griffin Still Electrifies

Pittsburgh — For the first time since July 5, Konnor Griffin returned to the Pirates' field on Friday at PNC Park. Although he didn't record a hit in his comeback, the rookie still managed to electrify the crowd. Reinstated from the 60-day injured list after a left ring finger injury in Washington on July 5, Griffin was the key player in the Pirates' 1-0 victory over the Angels.

The 20-year-old, known for his exceptional speed, scored the game-winning run in the second inning after Jake Mangum's double to right field. Griffin, standing at first base, was visibly excited, stating that being back on the field meant a lot to him. Despite stumbling after reaching third base, Griffin managed to score with a brilliant slide executed by Pirates shortstop Moises Ballesteros.

Manager Don Kelly was impressed by Griffin's speed and ability to change the game. Griffin finished the game 0 for 3, but still managed to show why he's such an important player to the Pirates.
