Severe weather conditions have caused significant disruptions in Johannesburg, with fallen trees blocking roads, damaging a JMPD vehicle, and prompting emergency crews to respond to numerous incidents across the city. The city is currently under a Level 5 storm warning issued by the South African Weather Service (Saws) due to the threat of severe thunderstorms, flooding, hail, excessive lightning, and strong winds.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has urged motorists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution on the roads due to the adverse weather conditions and high winds affecting various parts of the city.

An Ipsos survey has provided a boost to the ANC in Johannesburg, placing the party at 31% and ahead of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the race to lead the city. The ANC's regional secretary, Sasa Manganye, stated that the Ipsos research findings reaffirm the party's recovery and its beginnings in rebuilding support. Meanwhile, Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has accused the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of being entangled with the ANC.

Malema urged his supporters to monitor the elections process with vigilance, claiming that the IEC is the "ANC in reverse" and must be monitored to ensure fair elections and to prevent the party from stealing their votes.
