Hong Kong edge Malaysia in dramatic Premier Cup thriller

Kuala Lumpur witnessed a thrilling cricket match during the ACC Premier Cup Group A Super Over on Saturday, as Hong Kong secured a dramatic win over Malaysia at the UKM Oval in Bangi. Hong Kong, who were dismissed for 209 runs in 46.3 overs, required only three balls in the extra over to triumph, with Anshuman Rath scoring 12 runs off a six and two boundaries.

Malaysia, led by Virandeep Singh's unbeaten 82, reached 209-9 in their 50 overs. Syahadat Ramli contributed 50 runs off 87 balls, but was dismissed by Hassan Khan off his very next ball. Virandeep reached his fifty in just 59 balls. The match proved particularly significant, as Malaysia had already lost to Nepal earlier in the week, leaving only Bahrain in contention for the remaining match against Saudi Arabia.

Nepal currently leads Group A with four points, level with Hong Kong, who have played an extra match. Hong Kong captain Syed Aziz Syed Mubarak was dismissed twice, including the first ball of the Super Over, while Aqeel Wahid and Virandeep grabbed a combined seven wickets for Hong Kong. Kahan Challu scored 62 not out off 59 balls for Hong Kong, with Anshuman Rath contributing 44 runs. Last-man Hassan Khan added 24 runs to push Hong Kong past 200.
