Government adopts new measure to support farmers amid Russian terror in Black Sea region

Ukraine's Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi announced a new government measure aimed at supporting farmers in the face of Russian terror in the Black Sea region, according to Ukrinform. Enemy attacks on civilian vessels and port infrastructure have disrupted shipping routes, complicating logistics and extending delivery times for agricultural exports.

In response, the government is altering the rules governing settlement deadlines for export contracts concerning key agricultural products such as wheat, corn, soybeans, sunflower seeds, sunflower oil and sunflower meal. The Ministry of Economy will have the authority to extend these deadlines by up to 180 days upon request from exporters.

This extension aims to provide farmers and exporters with additional time to fulfill contracts, preserve export revenues and foreign currency earnings, and ensure resources for the upcoming sowing season. Additionally, Ukraine has agreed with international partners to allocate around $10.5 million to agricultural producers in frontline regions to assist in organizing temporary crop storage facilities.
