Glo Marks 23rd Anniversary with Thrilling ‘Fitfest 2026’ Sports Day

Telecommunications company Globacom marked its 23rd anniversary with an energetic "Fitfest 2026" sports day on Saturday, bringing together staff at The Stable in Surulere, Lagos. Employees traded corporate attire for vibrant sports jerseys to participate in a day filled with games, camaraderie, and competition. The event, timed precisely to the anniversary, allowed workers from different departments to engage in a variety of activities, fostering team spirit and unity.

Dressed in colorful jerseys, employees formed groups and took part in games such as table tennis, giant Ludo, snooker, beer pong, sack races, and the classic board game Ayo. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the football tournament, which generated intense rivalries across the organization. Several departments traveled to Lagos to bring top talent to the event, with the Glo Rocket team—comprising representatives from Sales and Value Added Services—emerging victorious.

This team triumphed over "Strikers FC," a formidable combined team of employees from Rollout, Information Systems, Gloworld Development, and E-Pin departments.

The Glo Rocket team's victory came with a substantial prize: a champion's trophy worth N1 million, while the runners-up, Strikers FC, won N750,000. Both teams received medals, and individual winners of the indoor and track games took home additional cash prizes and medals for their outstanding performances.

Beyond the excitement of the competition, Fitfest 2026 served as a significant cultural moment for Glo, reinvigorating the energy of its workforce. The celebration concluded with a lively, festive atmosphere, featuring music, dancing, and laughter, leaving the staff feeling re-energized and united for the future.
