Ganga water level breaches 'highest flood mark'

Delhi experienced heavy rainfall on Friday, causing significant disruptions to daily life as widespread waterlogging and severe traffic congestion were reported throughout the city. Congress Member of Parliament Brijendra Singh took to social media to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the state of a crucial piece of government infrastructure.

Singh posted a video of himself trapped inside a waterlogged tunnel on the Dwarka Expressway, stating that he had been stuck for nearly an hour. According to Singh, the tunnel, costing Rs 250 crore per kilometer to build, was inaugurated by Modi as a transformative project for the lives of people. Modi had previously described the Dwarka Expressway as a "gear change" for travel between Delhi and Haryana, promising to revolutionize the travel experience.

However, the intense downpour forced the India Meteorological Department to elevate Delhi's weather alert from yellow to red, anticipating further rainfall and thunderstorms. This downpour also led to disruptions at Indira Gandhi International Airport, with several areas becoming waterlogged and passengers struggling with ankle-deep water while attempting to transport their luggage on trolleys.
