Fire Breaks Out at Another Major Hospital in Punjab

A fire erupted at the operation theater of Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan, prompting the evacuation of patients from the impacted area. The fire brigade attributed the blaze to an electrical short circuit; smoke rapidly disseminated throughout the hospital following the ignition. Rescue teams arrived at the scene within two minutes and swiftly initiated efforts to contain the inferno.

The fire was extinguished around ten minutes later, with no reported casualties thus far. Rahim Yar Khan Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa took note of the incident, requesting a prompt report from pertinent authorities. Additionally, he ordered the Assistant Commissioner to inspect the hospital, evaluate the situation, and liaise with relevant departments.

The district administration announced that the source of the fire and the hospital's safety protocols were under review. Hospital staff have been instructed to furnish a comprehensive report on the incident. Authorities emphasized that an exhaustive investigation would identify the precise cause of the blaze and evaluate compliance with fire safety protocols.

This incident occurred amid heightened scrutiny of fire safety and emergency readiness at prominent healthcare institutions, following recent fires reported at major facilities such as the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad and General Hospital in Lahore.
