Ebonyi PDP slams gov Nwifuru over 2027 threats, demands apology

The People Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru for his recent threat to remove local government chairmen from office if they fail to ensure the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins in the 2027 general elections. According to Darlington Peter-Onwe, PDP's Publicity Secretary in Ebonyi State, the governor's statement could incite political violence ahead of the elections.

Peter-Onwe demanded that Nwifuru either apologize or resign, asserting that the governor has breached the fundamental objectives of state policy. The PDP reaction followed Nwifuru's remarks during the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected local government council chairmen and their deputies in Abakaliki, where he dismissed allegations of harassment and intimidation by the ruling APC party and warned the opposition of potential threats at the right time.
