Domelevo backs OSP probe into alleged GH¢70,000 payment to Appiagyei

Former Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelevo has expressed support for the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in investigating allegations that Deputy Minority Leader and Asokwa MP Patricia Appiagyei received a payment of GH¢70,000 in connection with ministerial and Supreme Court nominee vetting. According to Domelevo, the OSP must investigate the allegations, despite Appiagyei's denial, as the matter requires further examination.

He urged the OSP to conduct a forensic analysis of the disputed document to determine its legitimacy and whether the signature attributed to Appiagyei is authentic. Domelevo raised concerns about the appropriateness of the Presidency making payments to MPs after they have completed their vetting duties, arguing that such expenditures should be captured in the appropriate budget.

Appiagyei has denied the allegations, calling the memo alleging the payment "fake news." The OSP's investigation aims to establish the authenticity of the document and clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged payment.
