Dairy conclave in Jhansi on September 11 as U.P. pushes women participation in rural economy

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a three-division Dairy Conclave in Jhansi on September 11, 2026, with a focus on women's participation and entrepreneurship in the dairy industry. The conclave aims to promote rural economy and disseminate the benefits of public welfare initiatives to eligible beneficiaries. The Dairy Development Department recently completed 50 years and organized a two-day Dugdamrit Swarn Mahotsav in Lucknow to celebrate the occasion.

The conclave will highlight the significant role women play in the dairy sector, particularly in the Bundelkhand region, which is known for its high female involvement in cooperatives and milk-producing companies. The event aims to promote modern technologies, scientific livestock management, quality control, and value addition of dairy products. The theme of the conclave emphasizes women's empowerment and their crucial role in dairy development.

Women in Uttar Pradesh have been instrumental in the dairy sector, with around 70% of cooperative sector members being women. In the Bundelkhand region, women have formed 100% women-owned and operated cooperatives and milk-producing companies. In Uttar Pradesh, 9 Milk Production Companies (MPCs) are run and owned by women, contributing to the white revolution and transforming rural economy, nutrition, and food security.

The government's initiatives, such as the Nand Baba Dugd Mission and Uttar Pradesh Dairy Development & Milk Products Promotion Policy 2022, prioritize women entrepreneurs by earmarking a minimum of 50% of beneficiaries for women in various schemes. The conclave reflects the government's commitment to supporting women dairy farmers and entrepreneurs, encouraging them to become Lakhpati Didis and potentially Crorepati Didis in the future.
