Construction of Dunkwa-Ayanfuri Road to commence in 2027 – Finance Minister

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister of Ghana, announced that the construction of the Dunkwa-Ayanfuri road will commence in 2027. This project is part of the government's commitment to enhancing road infrastructure and promoting economic activities in mining communities and other parts of the Central Region. The Minister made this announcement during a meeting with officials of PMGL, a company that presented the government with its ten percent dividend from its operations.

The eight-kilometer road will be included in the next year's budget for its commencement. The Minister highlighted that the road will alleviate transportation challenges, improve movement of people, goods and services, and support economic growth, especially in mining and commercial activities. The Minister praised PMGL for its contribution towards national development through the payment of the ten percent dividend.

He emphasized that government would ensure that revenues from natural resources contribute significantly to community development and the wider economy. The Dunkwa-Ayanfuri road is a crucial link between the Central, Western, and Ashanti Regions. For years, residents and stakeholders have advocated for the road's rehabilitation or reconstruction to enhance safety and reduce travel difficulties.

The Minister reassured stakeholders of the government's commitment to addressing infrastructure deficits and undertaking road projects to foster economic development and improve the living conditions of Ghanaians.
