Coal shortage deepens power crisis in Punjab, generation drops by 1,500 MW: Minister

Punjab Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Soni has stated that a severe national coal shortage has worsened the power crisis in the state, causing generation to drop by 1,500 MW. Major thermal plants are now operating at reduced capacity due to the scarcity of coal. The shortage has affected 63 GW of power supply nationwide. Soni called on the central government to take immediate action to resolve the issue and ensure a steady power supply to people and industries.
