Coach Jakirović signs new Hull deal after perfect EPL start

Hull City's head coach, Sergej Jakirović, has extended his stay with the newly promoted club after leading the Tigers to a perfect start in the Premier League. The 49-year-old signed a new two-year contract that will keep him at the MKM Stadium until the summer of 2028, with an option to extend the deal by another 12 months until the end of the 2028/29 season.

Jakirović, who took charge in June 2025, guided Hull from the brink of relegation to the Premier League after a remarkable turnaround. His debut Championship campaign saw him average 1.58 points per game and secure a play-off place on the final day of the season. Hull's opening-day victories over Manchester United and Coventry City, both without conceding a goal, were particularly notable.

Jakirović expressed his delight at the new contract, stating that Hull feels like his home, and he is excited to continue his journey with the club. Hull City chairman Acun Ilıcalı also praised Jakirović, emphasizing his special relationship and the high-quality coaching they share.
