Small-town German club Elversberg, with a population of just 13,000, continued its impressive start to the first-ever Bundesliga season by defeating Borussia Moenchengladbach 4-3. The victory came in stoppage time, after coach Vincent Wagner was sent off in the first half. Maurice Krattenmacher scored the dramatic late winner, securing Elversberg's place in the Bundesliga despite Wagner missing the next match against Bayern Munich.

In Spain, Athletic Bilbao outplayed Atletico Madrid 3-0, with Nico Williams, Robert Navarro, and Oihan Sancet scoring in the second half. This win marked second consecutive victory for Athletic Bilbao under their new German coach, Edin Terzić. Meanwhile, in the Premier League, Manchester City maintained its perfect record with a 1-0 victory against Coventry, thanks to Erling Haaland's goal.
