BJP Maharashtra Chief Ravindra Chavan Supports 20-Year-Old ‘Ek Bandhan, Rakshabandhan’ Ride From Dombivli To Kargil Honouring Indian Soldiers

BJP Maharashtra president Ravindra Chavan has expressed his support for the 'Ek Bandhan, Rakshabandhan' initiative, which was organised by Rohit Acharekar and his fellow riders from Dombivli. This event aims to express gratitude towards Indian soldiers and promote patriotism. The journey concluded in Dombivli, with the riders participating in the city's Dahi Handi celebrations. The initiative, led by 'Way to Cause Riders Club', has been ongoing for two decades.

This year, the event focused on the theme 'Shivrashtr – Nation First, Heroes Supreme'. The riders embarked on a motorcycle journey from Dombivli to Kargil, covering a distance of over 2,252 kilometres. On August 15, a giant 1,000-square-foot Indian flag was unfurled at Kargil, and 42 smaller flags measuring 12 square feet each were displayed along Vijaypath.

The riders then continued their journey, visiting Leh, Turtuk, Pangong Lake, Hanle, Umling La, and Lamayuru, where they hoisted an 80-square-foot national flag at each location to mark India's 80th Independence Day.

A significant part of the journey involved a Rakshabandhan celebration with Indian soldiers in Kargil on August 28. The riders tied rakhis on the wrists of the soldiers as a gesture of respect and gratitude for their service to the nation. After completing their patriotic journey, Acharekar and his fellow riders returned to Dombivli on Saturday.

Their trip began with the Tricolour being unfurled at the border and concluded with the Dahi Handi festival in Dombivli. The initiative has effectively conveyed the message of respect for the national flag and appreciation for the armed forces, inspiring local residents.
