The grandson, who is 34 years old, promised to help her with daily tasks and care if needed. The home is worth around $360,000 and the woman still owes $118,000 on the mortgage. However, the grandson later sold his half of the property to a real estate investor for $85,000.

Now, the woman is left responsible for the full mortgage, property taxes, insurance, and maintenance costs.
