As a third LJP (RV) legislator lands in row, Chirag says ‘would want probe’

Union Minister Chirag Paswan has filed a complaint with the Parliament Street police in New Delhi against Swatantra Bhardwaj, accusing him of falsely invoking his name for political gain in connection with an assault incident during protests at Jantar Mantar in July. The complaint, dated September 4, seeks the registration of an FIR against Bhardwaj and strict action against him.

It also requests the police to formally establish that Paswan and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) have no connection with Bhardwaj or the incident. The complaint aims to protect Paswan's reputation from false public claims made by Bhardwaj and emphasizes the party's support for student activist Nishu Aazad and her father, Sanjay Kumar.

The incident gained attention after a video surfaced showing Bhardwaj alleging that he had "cracked the skull" of Aazad's father during a protest and avoiding jail due to his political connections. Paswan publicly distanced himself from Bhardwaj and his party, stating that the misuse of his name amounted to a misuse of his identity.

The Parliament Street police have added several provisions to the existing FIR, including charges of criminal intimidation, attempt to murder, grievous injury, stalking, outraging modesty, and obscene material under the IT Act.
