AFLW wrap: Bulldogs surge home to stun Swans, Kangaroos continue historic run

The Western Bulldogs stunned the Sydney Swans with a commanding 27-point victory in the AFLW. North Melbourne extended their unbeaten streak to an unprecedented 31 matches, defeating St Kilda by a massive 92 points. Port Adelaide faced off against Gold Coast, while Brisbane battled GWS in the other remaining matches on Saturday.

Emma McDonald, a rising star, propelled the Bulldogs to their impressive win. Down by four points entering the final quarter, the Bulldogs staged an incredible comeback, scoring five unanswered goals to secure a thrilling 60-33 victory. McDonald's three-goal performance in the last term marked a significant milestone in her career.

Rylie Wilcox added to the Bulldogs' dominant display with a game-high 26 disposals and three goals in the final quarter. The Bulldogs' loss against North Melbourne earlier in the week weighed heavily on them, but their resilience shone through in this match. Chloe Molloy, Swans' superstar, had a tough time against the Bulldogs, scoring two crucial goals in the third term. Unfortunately, injuries have started to impact the Swans' performance, with star recruit Taylor Smith currently sidelined for at least two more games.

North Melbourne's dominance continued as they defeated St Kilda by a record-extending 31-point margin. The Tigers, who had not lost since the 2023 grand final, suffered their fourth-straight defeat, adding pressure to coach Nick Dal Santo. North Melbourne's Tahlia Randall led the charge with five goals, three of which came in a pivotal second-half surge.

Veteran Kate Shierlaw and midfield maestros Ash Riddell and Jasmine Garner contributed significantly to the Kangaroos' success, with 14 clearances between them. Ash Richards was St Kilda's sole goal-kicker, landing a goal in the second quarter.
