35 years apart, SIR reunites brothers in Jind

In a small district of Haryana, a routine voter-list verification under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) led to a remarkable reunion of two brothers separated for nearly 35 years. The brothers, Sita Ram and Dalbir Singh, met at Govt Senior Secondary School in Manoharpur, Jind district, when Sita Ram visited to collect his school-leaving certificate.

During the verification process, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) inquired about the brothers' village, father's name, and family details. Upon hearing Sita Ram's name, Dalbir Singh recognized him immediately. The two brothers embraced, breaking down in emotional reunion after decades apart. The BLO's prompt action of calling Dalbir after hearing Sita's name proved to be the key to their reunion.

This unexpected bridge brought joy and emotional relief to both brothers, who had been searching for each other for the past 35 years. The additional assistant electoral registration officer, Dr Ramesh Kumar, who witnessed the reunion, highlighted how routine administrative exercises can sometimes bring people together, reconnecting families in an unexpected way.
