1844 land grant still fuels Colorado's longest-running land dispute
The Cielo Vista Ranch in Colorado is at the centre of a land dispute dating to the 1844 Sangre de Cristo Land Grant. The 80,000-acre property has been the subject of decades of legal battles over access rights for land grant heirs. Governor Jared Polis has now appointed Ken Salazar as a special envoy to help the heirs, community and property owner find a way forward.
