11 detained to assist probe into group attack in Ipoh

IPOH police have apprehended 11 suspects in connection with a violent group attack that left a 26-year-old man badly injured in Taman Pengkalan Jaya on September 1, according to prosecutors. The attack involved five men in two cars who chased and assaulted the victim before he jumped into Sungai Kinta and was further injured with a machete.

The victim's injuries included cuts to his face, hands, legs, and back, requiring hospitalization. The motive for the attack is believed to be revenge and dissatisfaction by an organized crime group against the victim. The arrested individuals, aged between 22 and 41, had prior criminal records for drug and violent offenses. They have been remanded to assist in the investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin urged the public to report any information on illegal activities involving organized crime groups through official police channels or the nearest police station.
