Youth leader lists 10 reasons PAS should lead Selangor PN

Selangor PAS Youth chief Suffi Kamari presented 10 reasons why the party should be given the chance to lead Perikatan Nasional in the state. He emphasized that PAS has the necessary leadership qualities and a robust grassroots network to govern effectively. The current political climate demands new and more assertive leadership, according to Kamari.

The Selangor PN chief position is vacant after Azmin Ali, a Bersatu secretary-general, stepped down in January. Kamari argued that PAS has experienced leaders with diverse backgrounds in administration, politics, organization, and grassroots mobilization. He noted that PAS operates its grassroots machinery consistently, rather than solely during election periods.

The political landscape has changed, and PN cannot depend on outdated strategies or leadership approaches to win the next election. PAS is prepared to assume responsibility and not remain in opposition indefinitely. The goal is to build strength, gain public confidence, and offer Selangor a new government. Kamari stressed that PAS is ready to be a government-in-waiting, complete with policies, a team, solutions, and leadership to take over the state administration if elected.

PAS has several qualified candidates for the PN leadership role, including state PAS commissioner Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi. Sukri Omar, a PAS delegate, called for PAS to assume the leadership of Selangor PN during a debate on the party's president's policy speech at the general assembly in Kota Bharu. PAS possesses a team of professionals and religious leaders prepared to assume Selangor's administration if given the mandate by the people.

In April, Bersatu had proposed that Azmin Ali be reappointed as PN chief, but Azmin resigned as PN chief on January 1 following Muhyiddin Yassin's decision to step down as PN chairman.
