Wear OS users can’t get Gemini to control their smart home

Google's AI assistant, Gemini, has reportedly lost its ability to control smart home devices for Wear OS users, according to multiple reports. Wearables such as Google's smartwatch are affected, with users unable to issue commands to their smart devices. However, when the same commands are issued through a phone or smart speaker, the assistant functions as intended, performing the requested tasks and acknowledging the actions.

This issue surfaces after Google recently introduced an update to Gemini for Home, which broadened the range of commands it could handle, including media and smart home controls. The update also enabled users to combine various command types. Despite these enhancements, Wear OS users are experiencing problems, with dozens of reports on Reddit detailing the assistant's inability to control smart home devices such as lights, air conditioning, and vacuums.
