Vadodara niece steals uncle’s jewellery, funds trips with live-in partner: Police

In a scandalous case from Vadodara, it has emerged that a 21-year-old niece stole her uncle's jewellery, using the proceeds to fund trips with her live-in partner. The stolen items, valued at Rs 5.15 lakh, vanished from a family home locker, sparking suspicion within the family. The matter came to light after the disappearance of gold ornaments and silver anklets, prompting the complainant to report the incident to the Gorwa police station.

Police Inspector KN Lathiya revealed that the niece, Shreya Singh, had conspired with her 32-year-old partner, Deepak Vasava, to carry out the theft. The pair allegedly accessed the house, taking three pairs of earrings, rings, and gold chains. Singh then pawned the stolen jewellery with a local finance company, obtaining Rs 3.50 lakh, which they used for travel and personal expenses.

By the time police caught up with them, the recovered amount had already been spent. Singh, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had reportedly been in a six-month relationship with Vasava. The two accused have been arrested and are currently in police custody for further questioning.
