[UPDATED] Pang Ron-Pei Jing break new ground in Shenzhen

Independent mixed doubles team Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing made history by advancing to the semi-finals of the China Masters Super 750 tournament in Shenzhen. The world No. 85 and 48 defeated their Taiwanese counterparts Liu Kuang Heng-Hsu Yin Hui 24-22, 21-5 in the quarter-finals. Pang Ron acknowledged that they overcame their nerves in the second game, attributing their win to a more aggressive attacking game.

This victory marks a significant step forward for the partnership, which only formed in March. The duo endured six early exits before reaching the semi-finals of the Super 300 Macau Open in June. Pei Jing emphasized the importance of maintaining their momentum, focusing on one match at a time. Pang Ron acknowledged that sustaining their improved form will be a challenge, but they are determined to learn and improve. They will next face either Zhu Yi Jun-Li Qian or Wu Guan Xun-Lee Chia Hsin for a spot in the final.
