UFC Paris’ Trevor Peek reveals two-year absence ‘was hell’ — ‘I was lost’

UFC fighter Trevor Peek announces his return to action against undefeated British prospect Kurtis Campbell on the UFC Paris main card. Peek last competed almost two full years ago at UFC Vegas 97, losing a unanimous decision to Yanal Ashmouz. Peek's prolonged absence was due to back-to-back injuries that wiped out two separate comeback attempts, forcing him to question the future of his fighting career.

"It was hell for a little bit," Peek recently told Fightwave. After suffering a fractured left leg, ACL, MCL, and meniscus injuries, Peek had to confront the mental challenge of whether it was time to retire or if his injuries were merely tests. He found solace in hunting whitetail deer during his rehabilitation. Once healthy, Peek decided to drop to Featherweight for his comeback and has reunited with longtime coach Jeff Powell.

This change in weight class and coaching is expected to improve Peek's performance, as he works to harness his previously criticized reckless aggression. Peek will face Campbell, who is expected to match his aggressive style in the center of the Octagon.
