Torrevieja Tenders €1.34 Million Renovation of Virgen del Carmen Primary School

On September 4, 2026, the Torrevieja Town Council’s Local Government Board approved the tendering process for the renovation and improvement of CEIP Virgen del Carmen primary school. The €1,342,011 contract, which includes VAT, will cover repairs to several parts of the school's buildings and facilities. The project, fully funded by the Generalitat Valenciana under its Edificant programme, includes work to repair sports courts, improve the children's playground, and address structural issues such as cracks in the building.

Overhangs and eaves will be restored to enhance the school's overall condition, safety, and long-term maintenance. A crucial aspect of the renovation will be the removal of asbestos-containing roof panels, following regulated asbestos-removal procedures. The project, initially funded by the Torrevieja Town Council in 2023 with €1,237,425, has seen an increase of €186,085 from the regional Ministry of Education, Culture, and Universities.

The total funding for the project now stands at €1,423,511. Torrevieja's Councillor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, expressed satisfaction with the project, stating that it will provide safer, more suitable, and better-maintained facilities for the entire school community. Recuero highlighted that the approval of the tender represents another significant step in improving Torrevieja's educational infrastructure, resulting from coordinated efforts between the Town Council and the Generalitat Valenciana.
