Todd Bowles believes Bucs’ strongest position is ILB

During an appearance on 95.7 WDAE, Todd Bowles was asked which position group he believes the Buccaneers have the strongest heading into the season. His answer was inside linebacker, a position that had been a major question mark when the offseason started. Bowles stated, "We have more depth at that spot than we've had since I've been there, and I think that's really a plus for us."

He added that the group has become bigger and more athletic with the additions of Alex Anzalone, Josiah Trotter, Trotter, SirVocea Dennis, Christian Rozeboom, and Caden Fordham.

This change is significant considering the departure of Lavonte David, who had been a key player at the position. Instead of replacing David with a single player, the Bucs opted to overhaul the entire group. Anzalone brings experience and versatility to the position, having recorded 95 tackles, nine passes defended, and two and a half sacks last season while playing for Detroit.

Trotter, a second-round pick, adds a younger, more physical presence to the linebacker room and has quickly made an impact. Dennis remains in contention for a starting role, while Rozeboom provides valuable depth, having recorded 122 tackles for Carolina last season. Fordham's inclusion on the 53-man roster offers another developmental option for the team.

For Bowles, the depth at inside linebacker is a major strength for the Buccaneers. He believes this is the strongest position group he has seen since arriving in Tampa Bay. Whether this translates into the Bucs' best position group during the regular season remains to be seen, but Bowles' confidence in the position group highlights the significant turnaround in the offseason.
