The Boox Go 6 (Gen II) is more than an e-reader — but is it doing too much?

The Boox Go 6 (Gen II) e-reader is generating attention on BookTok as Amazon raises prices and discontinues support for older models. This device is positioned as a versatile alternative, combining the simplicity of a Kindle with the functionality of a Paperwhite. Priced at $199.99, it rivals the Kindle Paperwhite in cost but offers additional features.

The Boox Go 6 boasts a 6-inch screen, fitting comfortably in hand for extended reading sessions. Its open Android system allows access to all reading apps, including Kindle, Rakuten Kobo, and Libby, making it compatible with any user's existing library. However, it struggles with lag and screen response, detracting from the user experience.

Despite its familiar design, reminiscent of a Kindle or Kobo Clara, the Boox Go 6 offers writing capabilities, transforming it into a digital notebook. This sets it apart from other e-readers of its size, which typically lack stylus compatibility. The device also features a MagSafe case for added convenience.

While not revolutionary, the Boox Go 6 is well-designed and portable. However, Apple Books is not available, as it is an Android device.
