'Thank you, dear PM Modi': Meloni signals deepening India-Italy strategic embrace

On Friday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed gratitude to her Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for his congratulatory remarks on her becoming Italy's longest continuously serving prime minister in postwar history. Meloni shared a post on X, stating, "Thank you, dear Narendra Modi, for your words and for your friendship.

The relationship between Italy and India is today stronger than ever." She added, "The Special Strategic Partnership that we launched during our last meeting is the recognition of the importance of this bond and of the will to unite the expertise of our Nations to create new opportunities for growth, seizing the extraordinary opportunities for collaboration that we have before us."

Meloni went on to highlight the potential of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor in further strengthening the bond between the two continents. In a separate post, Modi congratulated Meloni on her milestone, crediting her friendship for bolstering the Special Strategic Partnership between India and Italy.
