Teacher’s Day 2026: Discontentment Among Educators In MP— 1 Lakh Serving Teachers Oppose Mandatory TET, Other 1 Lakh Guest Teachers Demand Regularisation

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh - Amidst celebrations for Teachers' Day in the state, a contentious situation has arisen among educators. According to the UDISE+, the state employs 3,99,970 permanent government school teachers. However, guest teachers and candidates in various recruitment categories are voicing concerns about their job security and future prospects.

Approximately one lakh guest teachers are demanding regularisation of their service status. They argue that despite years of teaching in government schools, they lack permanent service and job security. Sunil Singh Parihar, state president of guest teachers, claimed that 70,000 belong to the school education department and the remaining 30,000 to the Tribal department.

Nearly one lakh teachers are also opposing the mandatory TET requirement. Jagdish Yadav, president of the state teachers association, explained that teachers have protested in multiple locations, including Bhopal and Delhi, demanding exemptions for experienced teachers who have not taken the eligibility examination recently.

The Varg-2 and Varg-3 recruitment process has further fueled discontent among aspirants. Over three thousand teachers have been protesting since August 21, demanding more vacancies and a second counselling round. Ishant Shrivastava, a selected candidate of Varg-3 teachers, highlighted that the number of vacant teaching posts remains insufficient, despite the ongoing recruitment.

Additionally, over five hundred Varg-1 teacher recruitment aspirants are anxious due to a pending court case and uncertainty regarding their recruitment. They are seeking an early resolution of the legal dispute and the swift completion of the recruitment process.

The discontent extends to the Primary Teacher recruitment process, where selected candidates have raised concerns about the document verification and appointment orders. They are seeking clarity from the department and urging for timely completion of the verification process to receive their appointment orders promptly.
