Steering committee reviews progress of KWSIP

On Friday, the Karachi Water and Services Improvement Project (KWSIP) Project Steering Committee convened in Karachi to evaluate the project's status and discuss the hurdles impeding its timely and efficient execution. The meeting, chaired by Najam Ahmed Shah of the Sindh Planning and Development Board, examined the project's physical and financial advancement.

A thorough dialogue was held on challenges hampering progress, encompassing matters such as project execution, procurement, financial oversight, institutional cooperation, and other operational concerns.

Chairman Shah underscored the significance of expeditiously implementing KWSIP, given its crucial role in enhancing water supply and sanitation services for Karachi residents. He mandated all pertinent stakeholders to bolster coordination and swiftly address unresolved matters to hasten project activities. The assembly also placed a special emphasis on health and safety during project execution.

Shah directed all involved agencies, contractors, and other participants to strictly adhere to established safety standards and protocols to safeguard workers, project personnel, and the general populace during construction and field operations. "Safety standards cannot be compromised in the pursuit of accelerating project implementation," Shah emphasized.

Discussions also centered on tactical measures to overcome bottlenecks, and the participants concurred on specific actions to expedite progress. The chairman instructed all relevant departments and implementing agencies to ensure seamless coordination and fulfill the agreed-upon actions within the designated timelines. The meeting concluded with a pledge from all stakeholders to prioritize the resolution of implementation and safety issues, thereby ensuring steady advancement towards realizing the objectives of the KWSIP.
