SRA CEO Dr Mahendra Kalyankar Honoured with Achievers Award 2026

Dr Mahendra Kalyankar, Chief Executive Officer of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority in Mumbai, has been awarded the Achievers Award 2026. The accolade recognizes his role in making the slum rehabilitation process more transparent, technology-driven, efficient, and people-focused. The prestigious award was presented at a ceremony held jointly by the Bhamla Foundation and Panchshil Foundation in Pune.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Maharashtra Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde, Asif Bhamla, Nadir Godrej, and Dr Prashant Narnavare.

Dr Kalyankar expressed his gratitude, stating that the award recognizes not only his individual efforts but also the technology-led, transparent, and outcome-oriented reforms initiated by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority. He emphasized that the goal of Mumbai's urban development is not just about expanding infrastructure, but also ensuring that every citizen has access to safe and dignified housing.

The Slum Rehabilitation Authority is prioritizing digital initiatives to streamline the rehabilitation process. These include digital mapping, online services, and integrating administrative processes through technology. These efforts aim to enhance transparency, speed, and efficiency in the rehabilitation process. The authority is also focusing on providing simpler and more transparent services to eligible beneficiaries, improving monitoring of rehabilitation projects, and expediting administrative procedures.

Dr Kalyankar highlighted the SRA's ambition to construct over 5.1 lakh rehabilitation tenements by 2030, aiming to accelerate the rehabilitation process and contribute to Mumbai's sustainable, inclusive, and citizen-centric urban development.
