Sourav Ganguly calls Bigg Boss ‘biggest show’ as he makes TV comeback

Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is making a comeback to television as the host of Bigg Boss Bangla, the Bengali version of the popular reality show franchise. The third season of Bigg Boss Bangla commenced on August 30 on Star Jalsha and JioHotstar. In describing the show, Ganguly called it "the biggest show in the country," citing its vast audience reach and its presence across various languages.

This opportunity marks Ganguly's first association with EndemolShine India and his return to television hosting after a decade-long hiatus. He expressed his excitement about leading the Bengali edition of Bigg Boss Bangla after 10 years. Regarded as one of India's most influential cricket captains, Ganguly played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs for the country, scoring 18,575 international runs, including 38 centuries.

As captain, he led India to several notable victories, including the 2001 Test series against Australia and the 2003 World Cup final. Beyond cricket, Ganguly has been active in public life and sports administration. He was honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, in 2004 and served as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 2019 to 2022.

Ganguly's television career includes hosting Bengali shows like Dadagiri. The return of Bigg Boss Bangla follows a nearly decade-long absence, as the franchise continues to expand its presence across India with versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Marathi. Salman Khan remains the host of the Hindi edition, with Bigg Boss 20 scheduled to premiere on September 6.
