Smriti Mandhana becomes women’s cricket’s leading run-scorer

Smriti Mandhana, the India batter, has become the leading run-scorer in women's international cricket after scoring a century in her team's Women's Asia Cup victory over Hong Kong. The 30-year-old surpassed the previous record of 10,868 international runs set by her former captain, Mithali Raj. Mandhana achieved the feat with a blistering 124 runs off 64 balls during the match, including 14 fours and seven sixes, making her tally 10,880 runs across all formats.

This achievement also made her the first Indian woman to score international centuries in all three formats of the game. Her 18th century surpassed the previous record of 17 held by Meg Lanning and Laura Wolvaardt. Mandhana's innings powered India to a score of 193-5, despite being put in to bat, as her opener, Shafali Verma, scored 28 runs.

The left-hander credited Hong Kong's disciplined bowling early in the game for making it challenging. She dedicated her achievement to her family and expressed her love for batting, acknowledging the unpredictability of each day's performance.
